Summerbridge Pittsburgh aims to provide highly motivated, but underserved students access to quality educational opportunities.  During their six year tenure with the program, students are inculcated with resources to ensure that they fulfill their goals of competitive college matriculation.  Our program also inspires the next generation of educators by mentoring bright, enthusiastic high school and college students through one of the most hands-on pre-professional teaching fellowships available.

This year, middle and high school Summerbridge students and families benefited from a myriad of services including an academically rigorous summer program, weekly tutoring sessions at the University of Pittsburgh, essential workshops on high school options and admission, monthly Super Saturday classes, and parent education seminars.

A new addition to this year’s offerings was the opportunity for Summerbridge students to learn about sustainable living through an academic elective that utilized the Academy’s Secret Garden.  In this elective, ninth and tenth graders tackled issues of environmental risk and responsible usage of the earth’s resources, and even harvested crops that were used in meals throughout the summer.

For yet another year, Summerbridge Pittsburgh continues to make a difference in the lives of gifted, deserving students – believing that every child is worthy of a remarkable education. This wouldn’t be possible without the generous support of our donors.
