Summerbridge Pittsburgh aims to provide highly motivated, but underserved students access to quality educational opportunities. During their six year tenure with the program, students are inculcated with resources to ensure that they fulfill their goals of competitive college matriculation. Our program also inspires the next generation of educators by mentoring bright, enthusiastic high school and college students through one of the most hands-on pre-professional teaching fellowships available.

In 2008, Summerbridge Pittsburgh expanded to a six year model, requiring our students to participate in six intensive years of rigorous academic enrichment. This year, we proudly graduated this model’s first cohort of students, and 89% of the class of 2014 is now pursuing postsecondary degree programs.

Recently, we’ve piloted a college-bound mentoring program, which provides our students with comprehensive, individualized college counseling. Our volunteer mentors work with our students on identifying schools that are a good fit, polishing college essays, and applying for financial aid and scholarships. This important work is helping to make the college application process accessible to all students.

Now in its 22^nd year, Summerbridge Pittsburgh continues to work hard to serve its students, an undertaking that is made possible through the generous support of our donors.
