A Message from the Chair of the Board

Dear Sewickley Academy Community and Friends,

The past school year was truly remarkable in numerous ways. Most evident, our new Events Center began to take shape, adding an important multipurpose facility in the final phase of our strategic plan. This improvement to our campus wouldn’t have been possible without the dedication and support of the entire Sewickley Academy community over the past several years. While we still have more fundraising work to do, I’m thrilled that our community can now benefit from its completion – we’re already seeing what a difference it makes.

Our programs continue to serve our students with exceptional learning opportunities in and out of the classrooms supporting their passions, aspirations, and life-long learning. Financially, Sewickley Academy remains on solid footing, although like all independent schools we continue to face external economic and demographic challenges. The Board of Trustees is acutely aware of these challenges and is working closely with school leadership to ensure the Academy continues to meet the high expectations of all our families.

As you read this report, please note our fiscal strength and careful management of our precious resources. While the Academy’s tuition continues to remain among the lowest in the region, our budgeting process ensures that our faculty have everything they need to support students in their classrooms, and our endowment continues to grow, providing long-term stability and sustainability. Each of these elements, combined with our community’s incredible generosity, keeps our school strong.

None of this would be possible without all of you – our community of students, parents, faculty, staff, alumni, and friends – who continue to demonstrate incredible school spirit and support for Sewickley Academy through myriad ways: by contributing to the Annual Fund, the Annual Auction, the Capital Campaign, Summerbridge Pittsburgh, the Alumni Association, and by volunteering time through the Home and School Association at the Clothesline Sale, the Faculty and Staff Appreciation Luncheon, or as a home room parent. Thank you!

We appreciate all that you do for our school. On behalf of the Board of Trustees, I thank you for entrusting your children to Sewickley Academy, and for your amazing passion for our school and community.

Amy (Simmons ’80) Sebastian
