Sewickley Academy’s Home and School Association supports our school with the immense help of our dedicated parent community who give their time, energy, and effort to make so much happen. We sponsor many school events and programs and provide funding and grants which are all made possible through our fundraising efforts.

Our 64th Annual Clothesline and Used Book Sale raised close to $85,000 with net profit near $76,000. This incredible amount of money directly benefitted Sewickley Academy’s students and faculty. Other fundraising efforts throughout the school year include Scholastic Book Fairs, School Picture Day, and Kennywood Day. Contributions and donations from generous alumni and current Academy families, Amazon Smile, and our extremely successful Logo Wear Sale brought in over approximately $10,000 in net profit alone which went directly to our Above & Beyond budget.

During the 2017-2018 school year, the Home and School Association awarded $38,000 to Sewickley Academy. These funds that are awarded annually have been used to support programming and items such as Apple iPads and Pencils, Photoshop licenses, the Talk Program for juniors and seniors, A/V recording equipment, instruments for the science lab, STEAM materials for Early Childhood, and our Grants for Innovative Frameworks in Teaching (G.I.F.T.) program.

Likewise, we funded approximately $50,000 to support annual school events including back-to-school faculty, staff, and maintenance luncheons, staff holiday gifts, books for the Lower School from the Scholastic Book Fair, refreshments for back-to school nights, the Lower School Art Can Travel program, the Lower School Field Day, Issues and Education presentations, the teacher appreciation luncheon, Grades 5 and 8 commencement celebrations, the senior graduation dinner, and the graduation tea.

Since its inception in 2012, the Home and School Association has contributed over $35,000 to the G.I.F.T. program. G.I.F.T. provides funding to teachers to help support unexpected projects, opportunities, or teaching strategies that are innovative and interdisciplinary in nature and student learning that goes above and beyond daily classroom practice and experience. In the 2017-2018 school year, G.I.F.T. has enabled students in Grades 5 and 6 to see Water on Mars at the August Wilson Center, Grades 4, 5, and 8 to celebrate Día de lose Muertos by seeing Coco at The Tull Family Theater, and The Panther Den, a mobile cart that serves as a store operated by students in the Middle School.

The Sewickley Academy Home and School Association extends our gratitude to the Sewickley Academy alumni for continuing to donate to the Annual Clothesline Sale, our biggest fundraiser. Special thanks to our wonderful parent volunteers who spend countless hours in the classrooms, libraries, and throughout campus to enhance the experience and education of the students and support the faculty of Sewickley Academy.
