Dear Friends,
Please accept my warmest greetings and thanks during the holiday season. The time is auspicious for saying thank you and also for reflecting on the many ways in which we are fortunate. For me, I reflect on my wonderful colleagues, who work so hard and devote so much of their time and energy to serving the students in our care. These young people are, of course, the reason so many of us commit ourselves to supporting this wonderful school, and when we reflect on all our students accomplish, we can take pride and rest assured that our investment makes, and will continue to make, an enormous difference.
My sons, who were lifers here at the Academy, now stand on the threshold of graduation from college, and I can clearly see that the habits of mind and the skills they learned here at Sewickley Academy laid the foundation for their future success in competitive colleges. Sewickley Academy is not an end-point; it is the beginning of what we hope will be incredible and enriching lives for our graduates.
The support of our many benefactors each year makes this all possible. The high quality of educational outcomes is supported by the commitment to ongoing professional development of our outstanding faculty and staff, the assurance that our students have the resources they need in their classes, and the fact of small class sizes and an environment that promotes personal excellence and academic growth.
We know our achievements are due to those who came before us and that we pave the way for those who follow, but at this moment, it falls to those of us who are committed to furthering the ideals of Sewickley Academy to do our part. I want to extend my most heartfelt thanks to each and every member of our community who, through a monetary gift or the gift of time and talent, has made a difference and allowed us to continue our noble service to our students. Education is never a solitary endeavor, and our success is due to the collective contributions of many. That is why it is so gratifying to be a member of this community. When the need arises, we step forward and say count me in!
With appreciation,
Kolia O’Connor
