I’ve only been at Sewickley Academy for two school years, but I love it here. All of the teachers are supportive and passionate about helping me succeed. I’ve also learned how to balance the demanding curriculum at Sewickley with my classical ballet lessons, tennis, and photography. I was even accepted to the prestigious American Ballet Theater Summer Intensive and can’t wait to get started!
My teaching philosophy is rooted in fostering students’ curiosity while teaching them knowledge and skills that will help them interpret the world around them. Teaching in an independent school like Sewickley Academy allows teachers to focus first and foremost on the student experience. For example, we put together really neat material to demonstrate how glaciers move, which the students love playing with. Curiosity breeds interest and knowledge, and the Academy lets that all happen.

I transferred to Sewickley Academy in ninth grade, so I had a unique perspective of a childhood spent in different schools before coming to the Academy. Having a more rigorous, challenging educational path was so valuable to me, and pushed me to be the best I could be. I’m jealous of those who were able to spend their whole education at SA, but so thankful I made it there eventually!
